Re: Week In Review Sept 19-23 2011

Hi all, I know its been quite a long times since I posted on the board. We are into Unit 3 of Res. to Ref. and my Kasey is loving it. Already she finds the writing a challenge, but in a good way. LOL she groaned when she learned that we have to 'BAN" certian words from our vocabulary. Its still earl...

Re: Help with planning R&S for 14yr old

Thank you Julie...you really helped get that in focus for me. I think what I'll do is go ahead and have her stop where she is now...and we will pick up again in September when we start Resurrection to Reformation, and just run w/ the schedule with the guide. We technically have until June 17th (our ...

Help with planning R&S for 14yr old

First thanks ladies for helping me with my post a month or so ago! Now I'm sitting here pondering what or how I should do R&S for the next couple years. DD is 14 and will be 15 come Nov. We were half a year behind completeling CTC due to family/medical issues and was forced to take it at a halfspeed...

Re: high schooling rev to rev..is my planning good?

WEll! The other day I took time to call the local communtiy/technical college that we are planning for our dd to eventually attend. I have to say it helped a lot to talk to the admissions advisor. He answered questions about what TTC was looking for in particular from a graduating homeschooler (yes ...

Re: high schooling rev to rev..is my planning good?

Thanks to WatertoWine... that does help.. with our state requirements (SC) and the fact dd is headed more on a community college track (possibly going straight into work after volunteering in the field she wants) I think we are definitely falling into that little more leeway category. She seems to f...

high schooling rev to rev..is my planning good?

Ok.. more of those already probably answered questions..but anyone please help w/ my poor fogged mind. We have begun to plan for our oldest dd highschool journey. Her daddy and I are thrilled to learn that highschool guides will be written. Sadly I don't think we will be able to use the last two gui...

OT sort of lol

I am so apprecitative of HOD! Through the last year and a half I have watched my daughter make leaps and bounds in areas of reading and writing and that love of learning just come back to her! Its been slow though, especially as we had many family issues that impeded our speed with CTC. As 2010 come...

Re: Is anyone starting in January?

We are finishing the history and science portions of CTC (units 32-35) over the next couple weeks and then will be focusing on catching up w/ R&S 4, and finishing WWTB over the rest of this month. That being said, that means in mid-January Kasey will start with RTR. I am also planning to start LHTH ...

Re: Help! I really want to homeschool...but...

Hi! These ladies here are awesome in helping someone new get started! I can compeletely understand your heart and concerns as well. I just wanted to also add this for the social aspects as well: 4H and Girl Scouts are also really good social outlets to have and if you don't know any groups in your a...

Re: Do you supplement? If so, with what?

Pretty much we used it as written, especially after the first couple months of trying to struggle w/ all the additional things I thought my dd needed....Turned out HOD is best as written. I did however use a lap book that complemented the Animals of the 6th Day. As far as Language Arts, I pretty muc...

Re: O/T-Sorry I just love the advice on this board!

First off... Will be praying for you and your husband...and that God's hand and will be your direction and healing. Follow God's leading on the matter, putting the priority for marriage is wise, you need your partner in the decisions of your life, but always keep Him first. My husband and I did face...

Re: They Just Are NOT retaining

Narration has been getting better for us too and as CTC was our first guide w/ HOD, I'm happy with how far my dd has come. As far as retention...about 2 years ago I kept freaking out over my dd not being able to recall everything and sometimes stand there with the most blank expression on her face w...

Re: HoD and High School

I am certianly in prayer for Carrie and HOD... I personally would love to see the guides go on for High School. I know I've said this so many times, but I have no problem repeating it  My husband and I chose CTC as our dd's curriculum for 7th grade last year and I am in no way disappointed. We ...
