Re: Box Day! Hooray!
Kristin, I have those discouraging thoughts/feelings sometimes too. What has been a great help for me has been this. Three homeschool Moms and I get together once a month to share our thoughts/feelings/prayer needs with each other. We pray for each other during our "meeting" and also throughout the ...

Re: 5 yr old boy...HELP!
Hello. LHTH with a 5 year old is totally doable. My middle ds began LHTH when he was 5 along with The Reading Lesson, Singapore's Earlybird Math, handwriting, and the Rod & Staff preschool books from the right side of LHFHG. It was a very fun and successful year for him. He was (and is) a very activ...

Re: New to homeschooling and very excited
Mandie, welcome to HOD! My oldest went to a private Christian school for K too. I missed him so much while he was away and had no peace with him gone. Thankfully my husband agreed to homeschooling the following year and we've been enjoying HOD for the last few years. I pray you and your son will enj...

Re: Beyond - Resources and Ideas?
Although it's not necessary I found a good atlas/map to be helpful. Or a globe. Also, take some time to plan your spelling. What works for me is to write the words on index cards, wrap an elastic around each unit's words and toss them in a small box. Have fun with Beyond and I highly recommend Mr. P...

Re: Kinda OT: I need help getting baby to sleep to do school!!!!
Is it possible to your history readings while baby is awake? Is there a certain activity he loves to do such as an exersaucer, snack time, etc. that he only did during school time? Schooling with littles can be hard. I hope you find a solution that fits your family.

Re: Canadians using HOD
Hi Renee, Welcome to HOD. I'm a Canadian Mom too. We just completed Beyond with my oldest. I didn't add any Canadian history to Beyond, but for the spring and summer we are learning some Canadian history that corresponds with the timeline in Beyond. We are learning about native Canadians now along w...

Re: Prayer Request and new baby news ...
Thank you so much ladies. Maria has had her surgery and is quite comfortable and pain free. I will update again soon.
Again, thank you. It's wonderful to be able to share our prayer requests here and know that people care and really will pray!

Prayer Request and new baby news ...
Hello ladies, I have a friend's burden to share with you godly women and to request prayer for her and her family. My friend, Maria, from my homeschool group was diagnosed with breast cancer last week. This was a sudden and unexpected diagnosis. She is undergoing surgery today, May 13th. She is a yo...

Re: Should I pick HOD/Placement/New to HS/HELP!
I just have a few suggestions. 1. Print off the weekly sample of both LHFHG and BLHFHG to give you a better idea of what each program entails (maybe you've already done this). 2. Think about whether or not you'd like to combine your girls or keep them in separate guides. 3. Look at an online sample ...

I'll have to put another plug in for TRL. It's worked for my two oldest who are both very different learners. Simple, but effective.
