Re: When is the next guide

I'm just wondering about this too. It's that time of year when we are looking at curriculum for next year and I'm anxious to see a "sample" with the new Geography Guide before we make any decisions. I know you must be working very hard Carrie, but do you have any time frame for us on posting samples...

Re: Need some advice

Hi Carrie, She did complete DITHOR 5/6 a couple years ago, did most of the Medieval Theme IEW year, most of the IEW Level C and is currently taking an IEW online Essay writing class. She is 14 and will be 15 in February so she will actually in her 10th year of homeschooling (grade 10) because we sta...

Need some advice

Hi Carrie, I really appreciate that you take the time to respond to so many peoples' questions. My oldest (14) has done 3 HOD programs up to RTR and enjoyed them very much. We took a year off to study Canadian History and now would like to get back into the HOD flow :) I'm currently leaning toward c...

Story of the World question

Carrie, I would be interested in the reason you chose the SOTW for the MMTM program. While we have used the volume 1 in the past, I know the author's point of view on Biblical issues is somewhat controversial. If you have a link I could read, that would be great. I know from past programs that you d...

Re: Reason #32 to use HOD - Writing Instruction

Hi Tiffani,

Noticed your 15 year old in Rev to Rev w/extensions. Is there anything else you've added to the program for him/her?

Thanks,
Shannon

Skipping Rev to Rev?

Hi all, I have a 14 year old who has done the guides Bigger, CTC, and RTR. This past year however, we took a year off of HOD to cover Canadian History as we are Canadian :) My question is, should we jump back into Rev to Rev or could we skip to MMTM? I know chronologically it's not the best, but I f...

Re: Do you meet with your older kids to discuss history?

My daughter has worked through CTC and this year RTR. With CTC we didn't get much discussion time in, however this year my husband has been reading along (slightly behind my daughter) and then using breakfast to discuss the history portion. He's especially enjoying MOH which is a really fascinating ...

Any Canadian HOD users?

I love HOD but am wondering how to incorporate Canadian History with it all.

Anyone else with this challenge?

This year I'll have kids in CTC and RTR as well as Beyond.

Thanks,
Shannon

Not quite ready for CTC

Help! I have two daughters 9 and 11 who are almost finished Preparing. I already have CTC from when my oldest did it. She was quite strong academically and didn't have any problem but I'm nervous that my 11 year old will struggle with the reading and independence and my 9 year old, who is a good rea...

Re: Same guide back to back

We did Bigger back to back last year and I was worried about the "boredom" factor for me but actually I loved it. I was much more relaxed doing it the second time as I knew what was coming and it freed me up learn a new guide with my older child. Like someone already said, it looks different with ea...

Will this plan work?

Okay, I admit, I have loved HOD but have fallen off the bandwagon with DITHOR. My oldest used it a couple years ago and I felt that without reading the literature myself, I had a hard time "marking" or keeping on it for discussion or even just helping her with the questions. I'm revisiting it now, a...

Those of you repeating the same program 2 years in a row

Hi, I just want to encourage those who are contemplating repeating the same program two years in a row that it actually made my life a lot easier last year. After doing Bigger with my eldest, I then did it with my middle two and the beauty was, having gone through the program, I knew what to expect ...
