Hello!
I need to change my email and password but when I go to that screen it says, "SQL error" and everything is in code. Just wanted to make sure you guys are aware of the situation.
Thanks!

Re: Writing in WG

I spoke with Matthew Stephens at convention this year and the way he explained it to me was, you can skip 9 and do 10, you can do 9 and skip 10, but he doesn't recommend skipping 9 and 10 and jumping to 11. That being said, he also referred me back to Carrie for specific questions on how it's schedu...

Re: Essentials in Writing Praise and Question

Julie, That makes perfect sense and helps me a lot. I think we'll buy the package as is, and do what you said. I purchased his 6th grade program for my current 6th grader to do the rest of the year, and I've made my 9th grader sit in on the lessons. The only thing she really struggles with is the or...

Re: Essentials in Writing Praise and Question

Dorinda, I'm not sure what HOD would recommend; but, if I were you, I'd try WH with the recommended writing grade (the EIW 11). We are using WG right now and not all of the lessons of EIW 10 are scheduled into the guide. There are sub-lessons like 10B or "optional" this or that which are left out. ...

Re: Essentials in Writing Praise and Question

What about ordering the WG guide and following it's plan? A bit expensive just for that though. It's not a horrible idea though. I intend to use WG with my youngest, just missed the opportunity with my oldest. However, that would mean working out of 2 guides for one child which seems cumbersome. I'...

Essentials in Writing Praise and Question

We just had our Expo here in St Louis, where I had the opportunity to meet and sit in on the majority of Matthew Stephens' lectures, and let me just say I LOVED him! If you have the opportunity to speak with him or hear one of his lectures this convention season, do it. He gives great insight and ad...

Re: Rod and Staff Question for High School

Thanks Julie! This has all been so helpful! I really appreciate it. We can't wait for next year! As a matter of fact, it makes it hard to finish this year out. Right now, I am piecing everything together and it is running me ragged. We can't wait to have it put together for us next year. It's ...

Re: Rod and Staff Question for High School

Great, that helps a lot and explains why we've struggled the last couple of years.

Should we also cover all the writing exercises?
Thanks!

Rod and Staff Question for High School

We are switching to HOD next year in 10th grade. We're doing another Geography program this year, so we'll be starting the High School program in World History. We HAD been attempting (and I mean HAD) Rod and Staff 8th grade, and I think we got through Chapter 2. We did some of Rod and Staff 7...

Re: 8th grade English to prepare for R&S 7

Thanks ladies! I think that's what I'll do. We'll just ease slowly through 7, no worries, no stress, nice and gentle. There are so many components to this level, Grammar is really just a piece of the overall puzzle.

Thanks for helping me work it out!

Re: 8th grade English to prepare for R&S 7

Ah, sorry, all the "Next years, this years," get confusing, don't they? No, we are not using HOD for her 8th grade year, 2013/2014. We will use the HOD Geography guide for her 9th grade year, 2014/2015. I know Carrie has scheduled R&S 7 for 9th and 10th. We used R&S 6 when my daughter was in 6th, 20...

8th grade English to prepare for R&S 7

Hello! I have been DEVOURING these forums, bookmarking threads on the Geography curriculum, as well as threads on English and Writing, and the approach HOD takes. Much to our dismay, we have never been able to use HOD in its entirety. We love DITHOR and have been using it for several years now, and ...

Re: Book Projects to Send Home

I've been using DITHOR for 2 years, and we've always used, "How to Report on Books." I also looked on abebooks.com, and they have several copies of "Book Projects to Send Home." I've had great luck with abebooks. HTH!

Blessings!

Re: Drawn into the Heart of Reading for 3rd Grade

We LOVE DITHOR! I just started using it with my first grader, and have been using it for a year and a half with my oldest. I didn't buy the recommended books, because my dd is far above her grade in reading level. Therefore, I found it easier to pick our own. We choose a Genre, I pick the first book...

Re: DITHOR Scheduling Question

Karen, I think you have two options. The first is, schedule it out over a couple of days or 5 days (whichever you prefer) and don't let him read ahead. Then, he is anticipating what will happen next. I think Charlotte Mason said something about it being better to keep them wanting more. It keeps the...
