Re: We were going to start HOD today (prayer request)...

I will be praying for you.
We went through something very similiar but atleast our insurance company was helpful. Even so, it was almost a year before our home was back to normal. Our damage was right in the middle of our living area! It was awful but we came through it.
Blessings,
Donna T.

Re: I ordered, I ordered!!

Oh, that's great! We did Preparing this year for 5th grade. We have really enjoyed it. It's a wonderful program. My son made huge leaps in his writing this year.

Re: I made the right decision stopping Beyond last year...

Rebecca, I'm so glad you shared. I loved reading your previous posts as you worked through your decision to make that change awhile back. We will start Beyond in September. I am really getting excited about it! We had a great year with Little Hearts. It's encouraging to hear that you are happy with ...

My son cried today!!

We finished Little Hearts today. I know most of you are starting your new year, but we have been doing school through the summer and won't start Beyond until the first of September. We officially finished Little Hearts this morning. When we came to the last page or so of History for Little Pilgrims ...

Re: Trying to understand the way this works...

Sorry, I had to start another thread. For some reason, I couldn't continue to write... the screen cuts me off. If it were me, I would do Preparing and Beyond for now. In a few months or so, you could add a 3rd guide for you PKer if you wanted to. The PK programs don't take alot of time at all. This ...

Re: Trying to understand the way this works...

Hello! Welcome to the board! I will try to help, if I can. I have used several years of MFW. I think it's a great curriculum but now plan to stick with HOD as long as Carrie continues to write the guides. This was my first year using HOD. I used Preparing with the Extensions for my 5th grader and Li...

Re: ? about Preparing ordering

I wouldn't skip the Deluxe package. It is scheduled in the Independent History Study Box. Those books really add alot to the program. They won't be difficult for your son to read (some may seem too easy but the info. is good) and the assignments that go along with them really help them to move towar...

Re: Read-alouds for CTC and another guide??

Thank you, Julie and everyone else, for sharing your thoughts and the way you go about this. Julie, the thoughts that you have shared are very helpful. I do feel like a mean mommie sometimes . For us, it's not really just the Storytime that they want to share... it's almost everything! That's ...

Re: Read-alouds for CTC and another guide??

We did CTC, Preparing and Beyond this year. I have two little ones like this that always one to be in on the bigger kid stuff. I have few things that I do because I have three programs going. First I go over their math and La art things and get them going on that while I read to the other kids. The...

Re: Read-alouds for CTC and another guide??

Allison, are your children also doing the Extension Books themselves? I was thinking that he would do those but I guess he could just read the read-alouds instead.

Read-alouds for CTC and another guide??

Hello! I would like to get some feedback from any of you who may have used Creation to Christ plus one of the lower level programs at the same time. I think my 6th grader would need the history read-aloud set for Creation to Christ. Since he will be an older student, I think he needs the historical ...

Re: Science in CTC

Thank you, Carrie! I wasn't sure. I saw it in a CBD catalog and thought that must be it. I am relieved. It looks like a simple, stream-lined way to add to the life science in CtC.

Blessings!

Science in CTC

Hi! I have seen Biology 101 recommended as an addition to CTC for older students. I'm not sure what resource is being referred to in these threads. I am wondering if this is it: http://www.christianbook.com/biology-according-the-days-creation-dvds/9781424303106/pd/430310?item_code=WW&netp_id=476578&...

Re: Does HOD cover history from a whole world view?

Does HOD cover what was happening in the entire world during a time period at one point? I read Preparing focuses only on biblical world history but not what was happening elsewhere at the time. Is that true? Will it be covered in another book? No, that's not accurate. Preparing is alot more than j...

Re: Any need to add writing program, 5th grader in Preparing?

Tamara, we haven't used anything extra for writing this year for 5th grade. We used R&S English 4 with the creative writing exercises in the Preparing guide. The only other thing we have begun is one level outlines. We used the Ancient World Encyclopedia book for that. When we finished that, I added...
