Re: ADHD Help- Preparing AGAIN

I understand how frustrating it can be to try and work with these types of challenges! Hang in there! God is working and you will see the fruit! My suggestion is to let him act out the story as you read it. Let him know that he will really have to listen and concentrate so he can follow along and co...

Re: Help Switching to Heart of Dakota Next Year

Hi Shelly, welcome to HOD! I'm sure others will chime in with more detailed answers but what is always the most helpful at first is to look at the placement chart and see where each of your children places individually. HOD is made to tailor specifically to each chld's individual needs. That being s...

Re: Switching Guides Mid-Year?

Thank you, Julie, for the encouragement! I'm excited to start Bigger again and get back into LHFHG. My DD6 calls it her "fun school!" :D And, yes, I think my son really is ready for more, even though he may complain a bit. I'll just have to push through that and I'm sure we'll get into a good routin...

Switching Guides Mid-Year?

So I started my DD6 in LHFHG and DS9 in Bigger this school year. Actually, we started a little bit of LHFHG last year, but anyway... I was concerned about the amount of writing for DS9 so placing him was a challenge, but I ended up going with Bigger (instead of Beyond). He's fine with composing, but...

Help with English 3

I'm all excited to start school tomorrow, Monday, with my two littles! I was getting everything together today (I know, nothing like last minute  ) I got DS9 R&S English 3 to go with Bigger, and I realized as I set up my stickies in the guide, there is no schedule in the appendix for R&S 3! I ...

Re: Guide Advice :-)

Yes! I agree! I am starting this school year with 2 in HOD. My DS9 is starting Bigger, but my DD6 is continuing with Little Hearts, just moving up to the 1st grade options. I feel the same way...It's nice to be able to come back to that guide and just continue in our comfortable groove as it will ta...

Re: How do you organize your books?

Thanks faroutback for your reply! Oh, the binder hole punch....Yes! Always jumping up for that. I'm going to re-read your post and also check out the previous posts and folders for Bigger. I'm leaning toward using a bin for each with current work that we'll just bring to the table. I'll try to...

Re: Socialization Trap Book ~ Long ~ If you homeschool witho

LovingJesus, thank you for your post! You are not the only one going through this. I can so relate! I have a close friend that struggles with this as well and we often pray for each other as it is so easy to let the world creep in. There are so many good things, but what is best? I have four childre...

How do you organize your books?

I just got my box with Bigger and a few LHFHG items yesterday! So excited to get things organized. I'm wondering about how others organize their books, specifically where do you store them and how do you get them out and back there every day? Sounds like a weird question, I know  but here's wh...

Bigger/DITHOR Question

I'm going to start Bigger with my DS8 (9 in Aug.) this school year. Everyone was so helpful with that decision. So, I've been reading other questions about DITHOR and it got me thinking. I was planning on doing Bigger and as part of that program, just using the DITHOR Level 3 books for independent r...

Phonics Question - Dyslexia?

This past school year I started LHFHG with my DD6 (in April). We both loved it! She calls it our 'fun school' :D We are really just at the beginning of the guide, we'll start week 5 when we pick back up in August. I have a question about phonics. As seems to be my style, I have not stuck with...

Re: Placement Help - Bigger

Thanks everyone for your help with my decision. I was leaning toward Bigger and I think that will be what we'll do. :D I think it will be perfect for him - a good way to get him into more independent work. Look forward to continuing LHFHG and starting Bigger this fall!

Re: Placement Help - Bigger

StephanieU, I guess we were typing at the same time. :D Yes, the writing is a concern. I'll have to think about that. If it's writing in a workbook I get groans. I try to push him but sometimes I just get tired of it. The short time we did Beyond, he seemed ok copying short passages of poetry...
