Re: World Geography prep

Thanks!

I had forgotten that I need a few special supplies for the Mapping the World with Art. Oops.

Re: Has anyone used CTC and RevtoRev together?

I think you'll be fine. We'll be doing those two this year... along with four others.

Is there a post that gives approximate times for subjects in this guide? I've done a few searches, but haven't pulled anything up...

Re: Eploration Ed. science w/struggling readers

Do you know if this will include the advanced version or only the standard?

Re: use different levels, or extensions?

I'm very happy keeping my kids in their own guides (and I'm no less sane than when I started this journey).

Re: Need help deciding on a phonics program

Also, at that age, I made school pretty optional. The books were there when the kids were interested, but I didn't "make" them do anything when the interest wasn't there. Their primary job at that age is learning through play. :)

The pre-Explode the Code books are Get Ready, Get Set, and Go for the Code (three separate workbooks). I would use those with The Reading Lesson.

Do remember that the plans are for four day weeks, so you have that fifth day to "catch up" if needed.

Re: World Geography books came....Yikes!

I did the reading for the Living Library. I would say school days were in the 6-7 hour range. I'm okay with that for high school.

Re: MTMM DNA science kit help needed! Please!

I just asked my daughter (who did it a couple years ago). She said that was the worst experiment ever and that she never did get it to work.

Re: Celebration! Oldest just completed Rod & Staff English

Reading the Foerster's Algebra post made me realize *that* celebration was even bigger in my daughter's mind. She was beyond thrilled when she finished the Advanced Algebra/Trig text. Definitely. Emphatically! LOL

Re: Foerster's Algebra

We used both the Foerster's Algebra and the Advanced Algebra/Trig. We did both texts in their entirety, one year each. We allowed one hour per day (five days/week) for math. (Yes, she is ahead of the schedule.)

Re: Day One Went Very Well! Six guides...

Last year I wanted to sell homeschool curriculum that we'd finished with. My oldest had a fit at the thought that I might sell my Little Hands guide. She said absolutely not b/c she'd want to use it with her kids. :)
