Re: LHFHG or LHTH with math and LA?

You obviously know your "littlemisses" best! :D ....however, you asked for thoughts....When I began LHFHG with my oldest, my younger loved to sit in and listen to all of it!! And that continued with Beyond...So now that the oldest is moving into Bigger, we have all enjoyed and become quite accustome...

Re: Do you buy all the books?

First of all, welcome to the boards!! I am a "stalker" here!! Love our HOD experience and LOVE to hear what the ladies on this board have to say...and seldom have much to add!! But I noticed you were awaiting a reply and although I have not used CTC or RTR yet, here is what I have done for the 3 gui...

Unit 25...Armor of God

Just a quick THANK YOU to Carrie and her team for another great hands on activity...my dc had a blast today creating the armour of God for their stuffed animals!! As we head into the New Year, I have been purposing to ENJOY each day rather than see it as one long TO DO list!! And HOD is a huge bless...

Phonics with emerging readers

We are half way through Beyond and the Emerging readers! My ds is reading well...however, I want to make sure he is not missing anything...We completed our phonics program but I think we could use a little review of some of the rules as I am seeing a few holes in our phonics program...any suggestion...

Re: Idea for keeping memory verses

The spiral index cards is what we do too!! Then I can pull them out for easy review and when the next kiddo goes through that guide I can pull it out and all the verses are ready to go!!

Re: What order for Beyond?

Alison, I think when you begin a new program it is wise to "play around" with it a bit to see what works good for your family!! Here is what has worked well with my two...We begin with the Bible portion and then move to the history reading and finish out the left side of the plans...I then get my 6y...

Re: New and not sure how to start??

Gretchen, Welcome to the HOD boards!! I can so relate to your story!! I was a fly on the wall for a long time while I researched and contemplated switching from MFW as well...I agree that it is a fabulous curriculum, just not the best fit for our family! And that is SO the beauty of homeschooling......

Educational computer games??

We are just into our 2nd week of BLHFHG and LHTH!! Both kiddos are so enjoying it and I am too!! I have been trying to tweek our schedule so it flows well and I can see that it would be helpful to add a little computer time for my 6yo ds, while working with my 4yo. Any great recommendations?? What d...

Welcome to the HOD boards and the HOD family!! I am a 2nd generation homeschooler and have loved HOD...My mother agrees that it would have been so great to have had it years ago!! She sat in on "school" today and she loved it, too!! What a blessing!! Enjoy!!

Re: Separate guides...family cohesion??

Carrie, Thanks for your input...as I have been thinking about this the last few days and discussed with another HOD friend I began to "see" the importance of being sure that the younger doesn't get "dragged along." I thought through my 4yo dd's abilities and began to realize that although she has a ...
