Re: We need help.

Sorry, I just have to ask....Do your kids really wake up at 8:30??? If my boys ever slept that late, I'd first rush them to the E.R. because I'm sure they were deathly sick (lol) and second I could get everything done by that time...whoooohooooo!!!! My families all up by 6am and on Thursday morning...

Re: Copywork Paper

Check this site http://www.guesthollow.com/homeschool/printables/printablesnotebooking.html They have primary and regular lined sheets, with your choice of colorful borders, the best part, they're FREE. My daughter loves doing her handwriting on these sheets. I simply put them all in a folder on my ...

Re: DITHOR DD wants to read ahead of schedule?

I can foresee having a slight problem with this with my daughter, but next year will be her 3rd year doing HOD, so she is used to having to stop a story even though she wants to keep going. Like the first responder said, we have plenty of books for to read outside of school, but HOD books are restri...

Re: Can you help me figure out if 6yr old is behind?

I will second the moms who have already answered, please, please, please try NOT to compare your dc to other children. When it finally clicks for your daughter, she will take off with reading! You may want to take a break from any intense phonics work and take a relaxed approach, maybe take her to t...

Re: homeschool and husbands

My experience with this is a little different. I felt the call to homeschool even before our first child was born, but my husband was adamantly opposed. When my oldest was almost 4 yo we enrolled her in a very Godly and wonderful private preschool, she had a wonderful year and it was exactly what we...

Re: Need input on our routine.

HI, It seems as if you have a piece of the puzzle, turn off the computer and TV! I deliberately turn my computer off at night and unplug the modem so that the temptation is not there in the morning to "check my e-mail". There's never anything earth shattering in my in-box, so why bother. :D So now t...

Re: Questions with LHFHG

Oh yeah!!! This is a skill which takes time to master, I wish I had known that before I had started. I expected my dd to just be able to sit, listen and answer questions right away. Poor baby. I know better now, there is a learning curve, and each child is different, give it some time. I...

Re: Anything else?

Did you also order one of the phonics programs or are you using your own? If you ordered RME, I would suggest buying one of those primary journals from Walmart. We began using one of those about halfway through the program, I wish we had used it all the way through! For LHFHG, you may want to make s...

Re: School Area

In our home we use what is supposed to be the formal living room, it is actually half of the big open room that you see when first walk into our home. I got a free loveseat, a nice desk with a hutch, a whiteboard, and my husband put up shelves on the wall. The shelves have to be up high because I ha...

Michelle, As so many of the other moms have shared, and hopefully you are drawing hope and comfort from, I, too have suffered this lose. I pray you also can take comfort in knowing the Good Shepherd has your precious one in His arms. Oh how I wish I could throw an arm around you and give you comfort...

Re: when is child ready for emerging readers?

My daughter did RME up to the the 95th or 96th lesson, after that it was going to be mostly review. She then spent the summer readinf Dr. Suess and other early reader books. By the time we started Beyond she was very well prepared to start the Emerging Readers books. We have been working thru the Em...

Re: Trying to make Beyond work-going crazy!

I must concur with the other ladies and what you have come to, purge!! Beyond is plenty, for most children! For my dd I have only added Natural Speller, that is because she is blowing through the spelling lists and I needed ideas for making spelling a little bit, and I mean little bit, more challeng...
