Re: Preparing poetry
I want to add that not all of the creative writing assignments involve writing a poem. Some of the assignments are prose and not all of the poetry assignments involve meter and rhyme. We just finished Unit 7 and this week's assignment had my daughter finishing 8 lines of poetry based on the original...

Re: Water color paper?
I teach art. Go to Dick Blick online and select "multi media" paper. It is 90 pounds, but it works GREAT for watercolor or any medium. My daughter just did a watercolor painting on the "multi-media" paper from Blick's, but it wrinkled. :( I found some 11 x 14 paper at Target on clearance for 1.49. ...

Re: Coming Back To Homeschooling!!!
I just wanted to add that many people start their academic year in January. If it were me, I would finish Bigger, and then do Preparing as written. We are doing Preparing now, 4 days a week and I LOVE having the "extra" day in our schedule.

Finished our First Week!!
AHHHH! That is the sound of the end to a smooth week. :D I was a little afraid that I might have bitten of more than my daughter could chew. But my fears were not founded at all. She did so well! I had read over and over how long Preparing would take, but honestly we got through the lessons so quick...

Re: Prayer for schooling
Jenn, I'll be praying for you and your situation. A couple of years ago some dear friends of ours felt the call from God to move out of state. Why do I mention this? Well, the husband had a very good-paying job with benefits and security here and they had a home they were upside-down on and would ha...

Re: Should I just stop and resume in the fall?
Lourdes, I just wanted to stop by and say "hi" from another mom in Vegas!! It's funny you asking about stopping in the summer, I find the heat here in Vegas to be almost unbearable during the day, so we usually get about 6 weeks or so done in the summer, but if I were you I'd take a break, sounds li...

Re: Library or purchase books for PHFHG
I know for a fact that my library and it's ILL stinks!! I may be able to find a few books needed, but if I just took those books out of my purchase my savings would be minimal, if any at all. I hope you are able to find enough books to give Preparing a thorough evaluation. For me it had to be a leap...

Re: Buy Books or Use Library??
I try to buy as many books as possible, my daughter likes to read books over and over! She especially likes reading the read-aloud books herself once I'm done reading them aloud. My husband has gotten used to the fact that I prefer buying to borrowing. Bless his heart.

Re: OT: Notebook organization
I use a Pro-click, which I LOVE!!! It is super easy to use and you can edit , meaning you can open it if you want add, subtract, or just rearrange pages. You can buy pre-punched translucent covers or you can make your covers from card stock either laminated or not. I have used to make planners for m...

Re: What do you use for an Encyclopedia?
You may want to check your local library's website. I did and was pleasantly surprised to find out that they subscribe to three different online encylcopedias. The requirements for my library are that you have to have an active library account and you must sign in each time you want to access any se...

Re: DITHOR Question
I use the vocab sheets in a round robin fashion. They're in a binder and I take one out, copy it, and then put it at the bottom and then move on to the next one, next time. Hopefully that makes sense.
