Re: Hello! Does this sound like a good placement for my kiddos?

Hi! I'll just give my input. I have a son who turned 9 this February. We have been doing Bigger and it has been PERFECT! It is exactly the right level for him. There is just enough writing so that he is not frustrated, yet continues to grow in this area. I would encourage you to take another look at...

Re: Bigger Grammar....

I think it would be fine. R&S introduces each subject very comprehensively. There is no expectation that your child should already understand the grammatical concepts presented. R&S moves at a deliberate pace. There is plenty of practice and review.

Re: Not sure where this belongs..

Wow! I've been using Bigger and didn't even notice that I needed to use larger paper. I just used regular 8x11. :D We're on unit 19 and we've used regular sized paper for all our notebooking assignments so far.

Re: Review your past year with HOD!

I have two children, dd 14 and ds 9. After using SL PK, K, alt 2, 3, 4, 5, TOG 1, WP Animals and WP QMA, I have FINALLY found a curriculum that I REALLY like. This year I've been completing Bigger with ds. (I wish that HOD had been around for my dd.) Bigger has been my favorite curriculum year of th...

Re: Preparing vs. Bigger...can you help me decide

The reason why I want to do Preparing is because by doing the 1-year world history next year, dd9 will get the remaining 4 year cycles twice by her senior year. If we go with Bigger, she'll miss the last year of the 4-year cycle altogether. Any thoughts? Christa Hi Christa, I just wanted to mention...

Re: Opinions wanted: Audio for new guide...

I always go with unabridged. If both audio versions are of good quality, I'd suggest the unabridged version.

Re: Give your opinion: Science in future guides

Carrie, I am new to the HOD boards, but not to homeschooling. I organize a writing/science co-op in N NV. I teach writing, but also do a lot in the science category as well. My suggestion with science is not incredibly creative, but it has served our co-op well. I would strongly suggest that you tak...

Re: Thoughts on the new "ancient history" guide

I have a quick question. Is this new ancient history study guide the year of study that comes after "Preparing?" I guess I am confused because I noticed that there is some ancient history included in "Preparing" so I wasn't sure if this was an addition to "Preparing" or something totally new. Cunfuz...
