Re: read aloud ? for Rev to Rev
My 11yo dd is reading them herself. She enjoys them very much so far! It only takes her about 15m to read and ponder the higher level thinking questions or orally narrate. I think the skills within the box are quite deep and important. If you could at least borrow part of them as needed from the lib...

Re: Using Multiple Levels of HOD
Busy is right! I had to enlist DH's help typing amd let me just do the design and organizing it visually. :) I did post already to the schedules thread! I wish there were some ways to shave some time off it but i think that will only come with older kids. Lol. Ill just have to be patient! No rush fo...

Re: Preparing History Question
My oldest read them for pleasure. Really good books! If you have time and just want more to read aloud for fun, they are great! But totally not a must, and definitely not as a school add on with follow ups or anything. If your child is older and needs them, then by all means ....go for it!

Re: Preparing History Question
For each guide, extensions have been im addition to the regular studies in the guide. The indeoemdemt history box has lots of great skills you wont want to kiss even if the books are on the easy side. So 6th graders and some 5th graders should probably do both. If you had to choose justnone, id get ...

Re: Fast Paced - 5 days a week to get through all guides
I read today that carrie does the 4 day guides 5 days. But it is to shirten their school year, not to start the next guide earlier. So very doable! Youd just start a new guide and go until your chosen last say, then pick up in fall where you left off.

Re: DITHOR TM Necessary?
Most of dithor IS the teacher manual. :-) so yes, it is a must. And it is simple to use! You will use it over and over for every grade 2nd-8th, and can teach even your 8&10 together now with it...one in 4/5 and one in 2/3. Each day has directions fro each of the three levels, and many days with toge...

Using Multiple Levels of HOD
I know A LOT of moms ask about how to use it with more than one or two kids, and I have found it reeeaaaalllly hard to find sample schedules of moms using FOUR levels of HOD. I finally have a schedule that works for us and wanted to share it specifically outside of the "let's share our schedules" th...

Re: Cle language to Rod and Staff
Wr fo the oral review from the TM then read amd discuss the textbook lesson..then we do almost everything orally or on the whiteboard. R&S 5 is taking us no more than 15-20m so you can let go a lot! If we write anything, it is usually noore than 2 from each section. If they are just looking for whic...

Re: HELP please, Struggling in Singapore 3A w/bar models
Thanks, Julie!! We will press on amd perhaps when.he gets to math that stumps him amd he sees the need for the bars, he will grab hold easier. I know they are a must-know part of the program as i am only a year from starting 7A with my oldest. Wowza!

Re: HELP please, Struggling in Singapore 3A w/bar models
anyone? I've only found Thinking Blocks online, which are very visually appealing and step by step. So, I'm sure once I get him on there and going, it will be of some benefit. But I'd still like some good ideas or maybe he doesn't need to fully grasp them right now? Isn't he supposed to be using the...

Re: Teaching two differnet levels
There are lots of us teaching multiple levels at once. :-) so long as kidsare properly placed, it generally goes super smoothly! Easier and less time, from my experience, than tryiny to fit everyone into a single combined level that doesnt truly fit them all, and needs tweaking up and/or down for va...
