Re: I don't see many

I am using it partly with my 4 yr. old; next year I will use it fully with her again next year as her little sister joins in. She really likes it and it is easy to do.

My oldest two (8th and 9th) use Teaching Textbooks.

Re: Singapore Math Questions

I would definately start them where they test, or you will lose the benefits of a shorter program with higher level thinking skills. She may move through the 3A quickly once she catches on to the new format. From what I have read Singapore would start 1A at age 7 (so if she is going to be 10, that w...

Re: Singapore Math Questions

1) Would it take that long with Sinapore math? No, my first grader did MUS Alpha and Singapore this year. I would guess he spent about 20 minutes tops. However, math is easy for him. We are currently adding in Challenging World Problems as he already finished MUS. I am not going to use MUS with him ...

I am so excited for you! I know you must be so exuberant that pregnancy is over! I always am! Our littlest for now is Emma Claire; her sister's middle name is Grace. Our new little one should be here in a little under 7 weeks. Enjoy your new little one!

Re: Ok Girls, what are you thinking about doing NEXT year!

My then 6th grade daughter will be doing Ancients. Our then 2nd and 3rd grade boys will move on to Bigger. They did Beyond this year, and my two toddlers will be doing LHTH.

Re: Age limits when combining

Julie--Being 7 weeks from giving birth, you just have to know how much this comment cracked me up:

In fact, I just returned my one-size-fits-all pj's to Penney's because they were made for a smurf-sized person.

(Well, at least my legs could look like a smurf with all those v. veins!)

Re: Math Rant!!!

Do not be discouraged. My daughter (5th grade) is finishing up 4A. If she took the TT placement test I believe she would test into TT7. Although, after seeing some of the samples, I believe that TT7 could be difficult for her. Singapore levels are different.

Re: Hi! I'm new and have a few questions.

I am combining my second and third graders in Bigger next year. My 3rd grader is old for his grade as well. I just wanted to let you know someone else has the same scenerio. They did Beyond this year. It was a nice fit for both of them. I expect the same next year.

Re: Beyond or Bigger Help Me!!!!

I would still put them in Beyond. I used Beyond with a 6 and an 8 year old this year. They are having a blast! You can use whichever reader set fits and DITHOR at their level.

Re: Where we are at with combining/separating...

Daisy, it looks like we will be doing the same programs with the same sexes--my younger boys in BIgger and my older girl in Ancients. It will be fun to compare notes next year.

Re: Age limits when combining

Tiffini, I would not want to separate if it was only by a manual. My reason for considering separating is having a 2nd, 3rd, and a 6th grader. Also the sixth grader has been through a complete 4 year history cycle and has read many of the books in Bigger and Preparing. That may or may not be helpful...

Re: I would be in bed, but....

Thank you for all of your thoughtful replies. They are so helpful. We have been in Kentucky visiting the Creation Museum, so I have had a couple of days just to ponder. The boys are doing so wonderfully in Beyond, I do think it is best to just continue with them sraight into Bigger. Plus, they are s...
