Re: Does defending our choice to homeschool ever get easier?

I just always answer- "I am not sure what God has planned for our family next year or in a few years, but right now we are having a blast and hopefully honoring God."
Even though my plan is to not send my kids to PS ever! :)

Re: How to choose or what to do...

I am doing LHFHG with my ds5 and we supplement in the afternoons with FIAR and Galloping the Globe. I know we don't have to but my son loves "school"... I actually follow the counties in Galloping the Globe and we do the FIAR books along with whatever county we are doing. Example- We did China 1st, ...

Re: Another lapbooking question!

My son is 5 and doing LHFHG. We do some lapbooking with our Five in a Row books. I haven't made anything to go along with HOD but I am sure it would be easy. You could do a lapbook on the Egypt, 10 Commandments, soil and plants, Day of Creation- God created "this" on the 5th day book. Hope this help...

Re: audio books....

My son has been loving the Magic Tree House books on CD. Our library has them for loan and he has listened to all they have many times. They also love Winnie the Pooh on CD.
Hope that helps~

Re: Using FIAR, LOTW with LHTH??

I have been doing Galloping the Globe and FIAR with my LHFHG. Not everyday but just supplementing here and there.
My 5 and 3 old are also requesting more to do and I am not very creative, so FIAR works great for us~

Re: Anybody here doing LHFHG?

We have been working on Unit 4 this week. MY 5 and 3 year old are loving LHFHG, as am I. It is so easy for me to prepare each day, and I don't feel overwhelmed if we skip a day. It is very easy to combine and do a 4 day schedule. Thanks for posting this thread. I have been wondering who else was in ...

Thanks so much for all the help and quick answers. I am sure I can wing it for additional reading with what I already have for the 1st few units.

I am kicking off my 1st year homeschool on August 18th, with LHFHG.

Thanks. I will keep checking each few unit at the library.
I was very surprised my library system only had one suggested book in the 1st 4 units.
Our library system is connected to about 40 library's.

LHFHG ? Reading about History Books

Does anyone used these for supplementary reading?
I have a huge library system, but can't get hardly any of these books from the library.

Anyone other suggestions? I really don't want to purchase more than a couple.

Thanks
