Re: Carrie -"What in the World's Going On Here" question

I will think on the church note taking idea. I, too, have a little one who is getting much better at handling church, but I still miss out on parts of the sermon. I could get filled in by my older son's notes! I guess I'm not quite sure how to get him going on it, though.

Re: Carrie -"What in the World's Going On Here" question

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know. I will look for that to come up in future guides. I think that it's great you thought of this very imortant skill that kids will need. I am working on teaching my 12 yr. old to take notes from written works, but I hadn't thought to teach him to take notes from s...

Carrie -"What in the World's Going On Here" question

I thought I read somewhere that kids are to take notes while listening to "What in the World's Going On Here" CD. Is that still the plan, and could you elaborate on how that will work?
Thanks,
Katie

Re: HAS ANYONE HEARD OF OR USED BRAINWARE SAFARI?

Okay, my son has had a chance to use it a few more times. He really likes the activities and asks to use it (it's still "new" though). I've been really impressed with the thinking involved in the activities. One activity shows the child 6 sets of letters - like KXNFR. 5 of the sets are the same, one...

Re: HAS ANYONE HEARD OF OR USED BRAINWARE SAFARI?

He hasn't had a chance to use it much more yet. I will try to post more towards the end of the week. Is there something specific you want to know?

Re: HAS ANYONE HEARD OF OR USED BRAINWARE SAFARI?

I just got ours. I bought it for my 8 ds who really has a hard time with memory and staying focused. He only did it once, but he liked it and asked to do it again (didn't have time yet). The little bit that I saw looked really great. Sorry I can't tell you much more right now. If you have any other ...

Another thing you could add to a country study is these passports and stamp stickers. If you order the free passports, you actually get quite a few (you could share with friends!) You could also look at the curriculum that goes with it, if you don't mind that it comes from a Lutheran church. Here's ...

We are partially into Bigger, and what you are concerned about is something that we are struggling with. I find myself rewording a lot of the reading, and we don't find the stories very engaging. We're also struggling with the biographical aproach, as this is the first year we are doing US history. ...

Thank you for your insight and suggestions. I may check out the Truth Quest Guides as I don't mind taking a little longer to do Bigger (even though personally I'm itching to get to Preparing!!!) Carrie, I understand what you are saying about creating pegs. My concern is that this is the only year of...

Thanks for your suggestions. I am looking for things to flesh out Bigger and give the kids the whole picture than just the biographies are doing. We really like Bigger, I think I just need to include some general time period info.

Bigger dilema!

We recently started Bigger with my 7yr.old (almost 8) and my 10 yr.old (almost 11). We just use the history side of the schedule, and my 7yr.old uses the science. My 10 yr. old uses the history extension pack. There are many things I love about Bigger .... the poems and bible especially. My dilema i...

Thanks Carrie! I'm looking into Igniting Your Writing. I'm sure I'll love your writing instructions for my younger son when we get to Preparing.

writing programs for older kdis

Hi, We are doing Bigger with my 7ds and 10ds. The 10yr old is doing the history/bible/poetry/art portion and his own things for the other subjects. I'm now looking for suggestions on a writing curriculum for the 10yr. old. We started Writing Strands awhile ago, but it's not going very well. Does any...

Thanks for all the great info. The hands-on activities sound great. I will have to investigate the books a little more. Hopefully that will help me make a decision. Decisions, decisions!!!

New with questions

Hi, I am pouring over the info for this curriculum, and I have questions. I am thinking of using Bigger for my 7 yr. old and I wondered if I could add the extension pack and use it for my 10 yr. old too (he would have his own math and language arts). Would it be enough? Next, I would like a better i...
