Re: Help me choose a program!
Hi Joanne--We did MFW ECC last year and are finishing up Preparing this year. I thought it was a wonderful sequence--one year of geography followed by one year of world history overview. My twins were 9 when we did Preparing and we had a great year. Not sure if this will help you decide, but this wa...

Re: Creation to Christ question
Thank you, Carrie! My kids did fine with the Deluxe package in Preparing, so thank you for the encouragement. I will look at the samples again when I'm more alert!

Re: A Few Questions re: Preparing
We are finishing up with Preparing and my kids do the independent boxes (the two at the bottom) each morning before we begin. I just leave the manual open with a paper clip so they know what to do, and I leave the books they'll need next to the manual the night before. The vocabulary box is pretty m...

Re: Preparing Question
Hmmm. I'm not really sure. I thought it was just in addition to everything else, but I could be wrong.

Re: Preparing Question
We're just finishing Preparing with two almost-10-year-olds and used a few of the extension books. The programs says it's for ages 9-11 and I think that's about right, even if you don't use the extension books. I did have my kids read a few of them just for enrichment and because they were able to. ...

Creation to Christ question
I've been pouring over CTC and reading the book excerpts, and I'm a little nervous. The readings seems to jump in difficulty quite a bit from Preparing. Is this anyone else's take? I was reading from The Story of the Ancient World and the two Streams of History books, which are scheduled for indepen...

Re: HOD and MFW
Hi Mrs. Lilac, We used Adventures and really enjoyed it. It was a delightful program and we have many good memories. I remember that we really liked the little art projects included and they were easy and fun to display. We then used ECC, which we also really enjoyed a lot, though the art was toughe...

Re: Welcome! PLEASE READ
Hi Angie, We used MFW Adventures and ECC and had a good experience with both. However, we are just finishing Preparing (with boy and girl twins, 9), and we LOVE IT! It's true that MFW is built for combining, and it took less time each day for us to complete, but there's something about HOD. The book...

Re: question about combining using Bigger
Thank you for your feedback. My son is 7, to be 8 soon, and I think he'll do fine in Bigger. He was a late bloomer, but has really come along this year. As for the olders, they did Amer. history in 2nd grade, but following the program, they won't do it again until 7th grade. I'm thinking that's a lo...

question about combining using Bigger
We are finishing up Little Hearts (1st grade) and Preparing (4th grade) this spring. I would really like to combine my kids next year. Can I use Bigger with the extension package for all of them, or would that be too big of a step backwards for the 4th graders?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: I'd love to hear from those using Preparing...
We used MFW for 2 years and enjoyed it. Then we switched to Preparing and LOVED it. We are using it now, and the book choices are just excellent. My children (4th grade twins) look forward to the history readings every day, and often ask to go ahead to the next story. The read alouds are excellent a...

Re: Preparing Unit 3 question--art
We went ahead and dipped our bags in the tea water, too, and it didn't seem to make a difference...Oh well, the kids enjoyed it anyway!

Preparing Unit 3 question--art
Hi--I'm doing Unit 3 lesson 1 today and we are doing cave art. Are we supposed to dip the paper bag in the tea water, or is that only if we use white paper and don't have a bag? Sorry for the dumb question!
