Re: Abeka language or Rod and Staff?

You can use your own english and disregard the schedule that's in place in the guides.
It won't affect a thing!

Rod and Staff english ?

I have to say that language arts is my favorite area to teach. We do stuff orally, on the white boards, play games etc.. It's never just an issue of giving assignments and checking work. I love it too much to leave it at that. LOL However, I was thinking about making our Rod and Staff english more i...

Re: Calling all HOD Texans.....

Fellow Texan here. Are any of you ladies going to the convention in May in Arlington?
We're planning on going. It would be neat to see other HOD folks there!

It sounds like everything is really coming together, Carrie!
Thanks for your diligence in getting things ready for us to see

We're planning on going! I'll have to wear a nametag and put HOD on it somewhere so we might
see each other there!

Re: Combine/Separate Verdict is in!

What a blessing to have the input from your husband! It's priceless and you'll feel better knowing the decision was a joint venture. Hubby and I have poured over books and materials and talked in the wee hours about stuff. I'm so thankful that he will take the time to help make tough choices with me...

Re: DD doesn't want me near her for school!

Well, I have my desk and they have theirs. We're all in the same room, but they have their own "space" to work on their assignments. This does NOT mean that I'm out of the teaching or flow of things. I'm right here to answer questions, teach a concept before giving an assignment, read something alou...

Carrie: Can't wait to see the Ancients sample week pages!!

When do you think you'll have a sample for us to see?
I love the books you chose for this package. I might just
have to do HOD this next year!!
You did a great job putting this together.

Re: What does "Masterly Inactivity" look like in your home?

Well, for our kids it can look like any of these:

Writing

Drawing

Piano playing

Reading

Outside looking for insects to add to their terranium

Playing with K'Nex, Legos, Snap Circuits

And on and on.

Computer and TV DO NOT COUNT, educational or not!

We used Abeka's Handbook for Reading with both our children and it
worked well for them. I highly recommend it!
