Re: Just For Fun....

Thanks for sharing your stories. I have laughed hard at all of them. I love hearing the funny stuff that happens at the hands of our kids. I know that as embarrassed as we sometimes get, these are the times we will remember in a few years and cherish. Sometimes I wonder how long that will be, but th...

Re: How do I fix this???

momas4bugs, Wow, i just read your post, and I am wondering if we have the same child! LOL. I am reminded of the verse that talks about how there is nothing new under the sun. It is nice to know how other people handle these problems. I second the touch idea. For my son, it is not so much my touch as...

Re: How do I fix this???

Joyful Heart, I am not sure that I am going to be much help, but I will tell you what I have done. My 8 1/2 year old has some similar issues. Some days I want to run and hide in closet also....Sometimes I do go hide in the closet in fact! My son has difficulty with writing anything down. He, of cour...

Just For Fun....

OK girls, I was thinking (yes it did hurt). We come over here and ask questions, have great discussions, and share prayer requests, however, we have missed something very important. We don't know of that time your kids embarrassed you so badly that you thought sending them to military school might b...

Re: Need help choosing among the programs (esp. for SN Child)

AboveRubies, Just wanted to mention something about testing. I am not sure what state you are in, but here in NC we have to test starting in 3rd grade also. My son has been diagnosed with a few things, and so I have been concerned with how the testing would go. Thankfully, God has given me a friend ...

Re: Husband encouraging a different curriculum

Jessi, I wrote yesterday on this topic, but I did want to add something. It is so great that your husband has an active role in what you are using. My husband never looks at our curriculum. To him that is my job. (Please don't think I am being negative, just stating facts.) I think it is fantastic t...

Re: Husband encouraging a different curriculum

Hey Jessi, Just wanted to post a little note about SL curriculum. I tried SL because of its literature based approach. I found it a little confusing, and a lot expensive. My son liked it ok, but he is totally enjoying the whole HOD approach better. One reason is that SL does not encourage hands on s...

Re: My girls with Steve Green - PICS - (we use LHFHG and BHFHG)

What a great experience. I am jealous. The last time I saw Steve Green I was in college or maybe High school. It was the best "concert" I have ever been to. He seems like such an humble man, who really loves the Lord, and what a voice. He has been one of my favorites ever since, Thanks for sharing y...

Re: Sometimes ya just have to laugh...

Hey Crystal, It came out fine, and I also have no problem with stating an opinion about what did and did not work for your family. I apologize if it sounded like I didn't think that any one had a right to say whatever they felt. I did feel like some of the opinions I read were not said in a spirit o...

Re: Phonics Program? What do you use?

My son had a really hard time learning to read. It just did not make sense to him. I found Scaredy Cat Reading, and I tried it as a last ditch effort. He loved it, and now reads quite well. The website is: www.teach4mastery.com

Thanks for sharing water2wine. I always love to read your posts! Your family sounds great, and sounds like you are having a lot of fun. It is a shame that so many people thing their kids need to grow up so quickly. BTW, sorry I falsely accused you about leading me to the other board. I humbly apolog...

Re: family update

Hey netpea, I am not sure if your son is having the same problem with sleep as mine has, but we use Melatonin to help him sleep. It is the natural substance your body uses to go to sleep, but some kids don't have enough. You can buy it at Wal-Mart, and it is inexpensive. Many kids can use it for a w...
