Julie, your schedule
Hi Julie! Did you know your schedule has dropped out of the sticky post you linked to? I have been very interested in following your suggestions for using multiple guides and getting it done before noon! I have been doing LHTH and Beyond and not doing a very good job getting them both done in one da...

Re: When do most start LHTH?
I did Little Hands with my first when he was 5. He is figidity and typical boy in small motor skill development, slow and more interested in building forts. I found this guide was a perfect fit, but I did spend MUCH more time each day on the lessons that what is suggested. His personality wanted to ...

Re: Beyond storytime titles to fit histroy era
I've decided not to try to stay in the specific history time era for the storytime. As I searched libraries and questioned librarians and searched online for historical fiction for colonial, I just was not coming up with many books that fit the appropriate listening level and age appropriate topic m...

Beyond storytime titles to fit histroy era
I'm trying to find storytime books for Beyond that coincide with the history time era. We read Squanto first for biography, then A Lion to Guard Us for adventure, now I'm trying to pick a historical fiction book in the colonial era. I know I will not be able to stay in the early American history cat...

Re: Tips for helping wee ones in LHTH
Wow. Thank you for this link to the previous discussion. I had missed that one. I am really wondering what to do. This is sparking something in me that I'm not sure how to handle. I start thinking about the future and wondering what program each will be in. If I start LHTH this year, that would put ...

Re: Tips for helping wee ones in LHTH
Thank you Julie for posting these tips. May I ask, what will you do next year with your ds3? Meaning, will you start LHFHG? I've had a hard time decided when to start my two dd4s. I used LHTH for Kindergarten when ds was 5 and moved up from there. It has been a good fit for him. But my girls are ver...

Fitting books to Beyond Storytime schedule
Just wondering if other HODies space out the pages of their Beyond storytime book to fit perfectly with the schedule or if you go with natural breaks like chapters and have time left over. We just finished Squanto for our biography and we went by chapters which was 14 but there are 6 more days of bi...

Re: Singapore Primary Math Home Instructor's Guide???
When I think of concrete-pictorial-abstract, I think the concrete is using manipulatives. Something hands on like cheerios for counters or flashcards for numbers and that type of thing. Concrete is something you can touch. It sounds like the HIG has lots of concrete ideas and games, but so does Carr...

Re: Singapore Primary Math Home Instructor's Guide???
Thank you Carrie for this clarification. I guess I was doubting my abilities to teach math. I will take your advice and try it without the HIG and see how it goes. I certainly trust your judgment. Please forgive me for bringing up a topic already hammered to death, so it seems. LOL. :) and involving...

Singapore Primary Math Home Instructor's Guide???
Edited by administrator to add: Because the old thread that was brought up with this post was one that involved a very confusing previous discussion by a mom who was accidentally using a different level of Singapore books than those that match the plans in our HOD guides (which was wound within anot...

Re: bumping up Math for 6 yo
Thank you all for the good advice and thoughtful responses. I think I'll stay the course for now. I'm sure it will get harder. I do like following the HOD guide and the associated math activity. Moving ahead would mean rewriting the math box and I don't want to do that unless truly necessary.

bumping up Math for 6 yo
I am trying to figure out what to do about math being too easy for my ds 6 (almost 7). I am using the kindergarten Singapore workbooks 2a and 2b with LHFHG and I feel these are too easy. He does them very quickly without too much thinking. We sill have about 8 weeks of of this guide left and then we...
