Guide Placement for the Next Homeschool Year
As you look ahead to your next homeschool year, take time to consider guide placement! Proper guide placement in Heart of Dakota (HOD) is important. When students are placed properly, both parents and students have the best homeschool year possible! When students are placed improperly, the opposite can be true. This is because HOD guides build upon one another in skills. A skill that is introduced in one guide becomes a skill that is practiced in the next guide and maintained/mastered/built upon thereafter in the following guides. This is across all subject areas. This incremental increase of skills also applies to the level of independent work assigned, the length of time work is assigned, and the maturity of Biblical and academic content planned.
Guide Placement Considerations for Veterans and Those Newer to HomeschoolingÂ
Maybe you are a veteran homeschool mom who has used HOD for many years. You might just need to move your students up to the next guide. Or, maybe even though you are a veteran, you might see the need for a change. For example, you might have combined several students happily for multiple years. But, perhaps you are seeing your students need to be separated now. If so, you should definitely take a moment to consider placement. Or, perhaps you are brand new to homeschooling. If this is the case, you definitely need to consider placement. Or, perhaps you have homeschooled a year and feel like initial placement was off. All of these scenarios merit a fresh look at guide placement.
Guide Placement Help
HOD has worked hard to provide guide placement help! Our new website has an entire section devoted to help with proper placement. HOD has guide placement charts for the “Little Hearts” series, the “Hearts for Him Through Time” series, and the “Hearts for Him Through High School” series. You can print the placement charts, one for each of your students. Then, you can circle where each student falls individually in each column. The first page of the chart is most important when choosing proper placement. This will make clear which guide or guides will be best for your students. Click here for our link to Guide Placement help.
